Welcome back, printmakers! How is winter treating ya? For us here in Northern California, it finally stopped raining and the days have been cold. We’re talking 30-50 degrees Fahrenheit cold. Some of you may roll your eyes, but for us here in the Central Valley…it is cold!

Instagram Live Classes with Speedball

I am collaborating with Speedball Art Products to bring to you Linocut Without a Press. This is a series of classes I created that I was intending on releasing to YouTube and Patreon. Thanks to the amazing folks at Speedball, we have changed this idea to become a full fledge series of Instagram Live Broadcasts!

These live online workshops will run for 8 weeks, beginning February 11th, 2023. My goal is to guide you from beginning to end and speak on how to design, carve and print your very own linocuts without the use of a press. These classes will be completely free. All you have to do is jump on Instagram and follow along!

There will be an official invitation tomorrow and announcement on Friday on the Speedball profile which will outline more of the details.

Dates: On Saturday’s: 02/11, 02/18, 02/25, 03/04 (dates for the rest of the session are forthcoming)

Time: 9:00 AM PT/12:00 PM ET

Duration: ~1 hour

This Saturday, February 11th, we will be going over how to prep lino blocks and different transferring methods. I’d love to see you there.

Studio Website and Store Update

I will be briefly closing my online store on February 10th 2023.

One of my business goals for 2023 is to consolidate my digital real estate - the studio website and store. This does not mean I will no longer sell my artwork, it just means I am consolidating the three services I use to sell into a single place. It will take some time as I will have to put on my web developer hat to bring you the best experience.

If you have been eyeing something from my online store, I would recommend you get it now so that you receive it promptly! If all goes according to plan, the new site and store will launch on February 15th 2023. The new store will still be available through danielvillaart.com. Think of this as a new year, new digital me kind of thing.

AESJ Souper Supper Fundraiser

I am a proud member of Art Expressions of San Joaquin, an artist collective built upon the mission of promoting and showcasing the works of dedicated and talented artists with the rest of the California San Joaquin Valley.

On February 17th at 6:00 pm, the Hilton Hotel in Stockton will be holding their annual fundraiser - Souper Supper. This is a showcase of not only art, but of local chefs who bring a range of soups to be eaten from wonderful handmade bowls. Each has been made by local artists and of late ceramicist, Chris Thompson.

The night includes music, soup tastings, and art auctions. Yours truly will have prints in the auction for bidding! All proceeds benefit Art Expression of San Joaquin.
